The Amalfi Coast was one of my bucket list items. I loved visiting Positano and enjoying its idealistic views. This travel guide shares my favorite places in Positano and my best advice on what to avoid!
Places to Visit
Marina Grande Beach
Positano with its gorgeous beaches and a city on a hill is a real treat. The view is beautiful, and the city is magical. I loved spending time on the beach and enjoying the ocean. When I visited, it was super chilly, but I would bet that the water is beautiful to swim in during the warmers months. This beach is also known for its endless rows of umbrellas which can make for some cool pictures!
Things to Do
Walk around the Shops
I loved meandering through the local shops. Even though they are touristy, they have beautiful products and are fun to walk in. There are art shops, ceramics shops, clothing boutiques and so much more!
Enjoy the View
My favorite part of Positano is simply absorbing the incredible view. I loved seeing the city from different angles, and the construction blew me away. Positano at night is also a beautiful sight. It was so pretty I started crying.
What to Avoid
The Bus
One of the worst parts of our trip to Positano was taking the bus. The bus from the Amalfi Coast to Positano was not horrible, but if you are attempting to ride the bus from Positano to Sorrento, I would strongly encourage you to splurge on a taxi. Riding the bus is a terrible experience. The bus is almost always full by the time it reaches Positano, so even during the off-season we waited almost two hours in a line to get on the bus, and even when we did get on, it was so crowded we had to stand for the hour drive. The Amalfi Coast drive is famously curvy, and I even felt some motion sickness, even though I have never experienced that before. My suggestion is that it’s not worth the wait to save a few bucks.
Food
Collina Bakery
I loved this little bakery. In the Amalfi Coast, lemons, are the prized item, and therefore I absolutely just had to try the lemon croissant. This was so delicious, it was tangy yet sweet. I also got a latte here and I enjoyed that as well. This is a perfect spot for breakfast!
Perle Di Sole Lemon Drops
One of my favorite treats from the Amalfi coast were these delicious Lemon Drop Candies. You can find these at most of the souvenir shops. They are delicious especially if you love citrus. They also make a really fun gift for friends and family back home!
Casa De Bottega
Casa de Bottega has delicious healthy food. I loved going here for a light lunch, after mainly eating pasta and pizza my entire Italy trip!
Saraceno d'Oro
Speaking of Pasta, Saraceno d’Oro has delicious pasta. This little restaurant has great service and mouthwatering authentic Italian food.
Lemon Gelato in a Lemon
I got lemon gelato in a lemon in Amalfi. This is super yummy because the gelato is so fresh. This is a fun treat, but this is a huge portion size, so be sure to share it with someone!
Thanks for reading my Positano, Italy Travel Guide! Amalfi Coast is a beautiful destination, and I am sure you will love it!
Love,
