Rome is an amazing place to visit. The city is bustling, & constantly on the go! This travel guide gives tips on how to visit the most popular attractions, & where the best food can be found! “Spero ti diverta”
Places to Visit
Colosseum
The colosseum is rightfully one of the biggest tourist attractions in all of Italy. My biggest tip would be to purchase your tickets online to skip the long lines that happen when you buy tickets when you get to the Colosseum. The history of the colosseum is amazing and it is fun to walk around and feel transported into a different time!
Trevi Fountain
The Trevi fountain is incredibly beautiful- but wow can it get crowded. My suggestion would be to arrive early in the morning to get the best pictures and have the best experience. Funnily enough, when I arrived early, the Trevi fountain was being cleaned, and I missed my solo time with the Trevi fountain!
Vatican Museum
I am not much of a museum person, but the Vatican Museum is a must-see. The Sistine Chapel is absurdly famous, and Michaelangelo is incredible. The line to get into the Vatican was insane, so book your tickets online to help save yourself the pain of spending hours in line!
Pantheon
The Pantheon is a nice quick (free) stop to visit while in Rome. The room was unlike anything I had seen before and I loved the beautiful ceiling.
Food
Piccolo Buco
This is the best pizza I ate in all of Italy. I was a little worried about how close the restaurant was to the Trevi fountain because I didn’t want to catch myself in a tourist trap. But trust me- this place is the real deal. The food is authentic and delicious. I went with the Margherita pizza and I loved it. The crust was flaky, thin and authentically Italian!
Pastasciutta
Pastaciutta has delicious fresh customizable pasta. Located close to the Vatican, Pastaciutta is delicious. I loved choosing the type of pasta and sauce I wanted. The pesto was fabulous, and you can’t beat the prices.
Maritozzi
Maritozzi is an Italian dessert, and “Regoli” has some of the best Maritozzi. I would compare this to a huge cream puff. Maritozzi is sweet bread stuffed to the brim with cream. It is delicious but super sweet, so I would suggest sharing one!
Gunther Gelato
This gelato is delicious. If you have read my other travel blogs, you know I love gelato. Gunther has creamy fresh flavors, and this is a great place to get a sweet treat!
Cannoli
You can’t go to Italy without eating cannoli. Almost every bakery will have delicious authentic Cannoli. I went for the original flavor and I loved it. I truly am obssed with dessert. The great thing about Cannoli is that here are a bunch of flavors, so you can try a new flavor everywhere you go!
Tiramisu
My friends who studied abroad in Rome highly suggest going to Mr. 100 Tiramisu. There are 100 flavors of Tiramisu to choose from! I wish I would have known about this place before I visited Rome because this sounds right up my alley!
Accommodations
Yellow Hostel
Yellow Hostel in Rome is a fun, quirky hostel. The rooms, beds, and showers are nice! The staff was laid back, but helpful. This hostel is different than any I have been to before because they essentially own a whole block, and therefore own a restaurant, barbershop, and other spots. This location is a quick walk to the bus station or underground train.
Thank you for taking the time to read my Rome travel guide! Hope you are able to visit some of the places I recommend. Let me know if you have been to Rome, and what your favorite places were!
Sincerely, Kylee Marie
